Our
Story
Content developers and creators of the Parent FIELD, Melissa and Stacey, are two moms serendipitously brought together through the pandemic when Stacey sought childcare for her daughter Lennon, as she headed back to work 14 weeks postpartum. Academically educated in early childhood development, and mom to Oakland, Melissa has spent almost a decade helping young kids and programming curriculum in childcare centers across Canada. Together, they want to build a community of empowered and educated parents that understand the critical first five years of childhood, along with straight forward information and ideas to support them!
Hello
My name is Melissa
I've always had a passion for working with children and supporting their developmental needs and interests from an early age. I received my Early Childhood Education diploma with distinction in 2017, but I've worked in the childcare field since 2015 with children aged newborn to age 12, some of which including children with Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD, hearing impaired, mute, and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. My childcare experiences range all across Canada including working at a Montessori, Nature based preschool and as an RECE for the Ottawa school board in both French and English classrooms. Over the years I have also had opportunities to work one on one supporting families within their homes not only talking care of children but supporting their growth and development. I am a mother to an adventurous two year old boy and through my parenting journey have had a first hand experience on how precious the first few years of development are and how quickly they pass by. One of my passions is to have a positive impact on families by supporting more parents in understanding early childhood development. Now I currently work as a preschool educator implementing the Alberta FLIGHT curriculum in a play based environment, while also actively building The Parent FIELD with Stacey!

Hello
My name is Stacey
My journey to the Parent FIELD was very different to Melissa's as I've spent the early part of my adult life, focusing primarily on corporately-directed education, and establishing my career in design and construction. A classic type-A personality, with an undergraduate degree in English writing, and a masters degree in business, I'm currently a Vice President for a global design firm and I'm bringing the solutions-oriented, business minded and lessons-learned-lens to the work we are developing on the FIELD. Focusing first on my career, my husband and I had our daughter, Lennon when I was 36 years old. Like most everything I do in life, I approached fertility, pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period with a research-first mentality. I read everything I could find (that seemed credible), I spoke with several healthcare providers, did blood work, followed all the relevant Instagram pages (again, the ones that appeared the most credible), asked questions, took classes, bough pre-made meals - you name it, I probably did it! But heading back to work after a quick 14 week maternity leave, I was shocked at all the information I still didn't have - and all the questions that were still unanswered. Only one month into working with Melissa, I knew I had to find a way to share the insights, instruction and answers she was offering. The Parent FIELD is just that: a place for us to impart the wisdom of early childhood development, and shed a brighter light on the already challenging first five years of parenthood.
